![]() Welcome!Welcome to the official website of Cairn Rescue USA! We are an all-volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing purebred Cairn Terriers and mostly-Cairn mixes. We are incorporated in New York, but we rescue Cairns nationwide. Our rescue Cairns come from animal shelters and humane societies; others are released to us by their owners due to changes in family circumstances or to the owners realizing that a Cairn is not a good match for them; still others come from puppy mills and backyard breeders where they have been used as breeding stock. Our rescue Cairns are spayed/neutered, tested and if necessary, treated, for heartworm and other parasites, and brought up-to-date on their inoculations prior to their placement in loving forever homes. To see a list of our available Cairns, please see Cairns For Adoption.
To learn more about our work and how you too can make a difference, please watch this video:
We do not have a shelter or facility but depend instead on a wonderful network of foster homes throughout the United States who under our officers' guidance evaluate and rehabilitate our rescue Cairns until they are ready for placement. We are committed to rescuing as many Cairns as our funding and number of foster homes and volunteers will permit. Fostering a CRUSA dog is easy and very rewarding and no experience is necessary. We have a video below to give you a glimpse at what fostering a CRUSA dog is all about. To become a foster home and help us save more Cairns, please see our Foster page. You can also help us by volunteering to transport a rescue Cairn or to help us run the administrative side of our operations, making a tax-deductible donation of cash, Cairn items or other crafts that we can auction on Ebay to raise funds, participating in our eBay auctions, doing your online shopping through our affiliate program links, becoming a member of CRUSA, participating in our rescue working list, sponsoring a senior or special needs dog through our Godparent Program, or sponsoring any other of our available dogs through our Buddy Program. Together we can make a difference! Meet our Featured Cairns!

Cairn Rescue USA invites you to name one of our rescue Cairn Terriers! For a $25 tax deductible donation you can have a Cairn Terrier named in honor of a loved one, a pet who has gone to the bridge or anything else that is special to you. Cairn Rescue USA will put a little notation in the dog's listing to let everyone know about the name. For example - "Henry is the name of a volunteer's father and he loved all animals especially dogs."
We reserve the right to reject any name that may not be appropriate or any name that is over used. For example, please avoid names like Toto and Toby. If you are not sure about a name, please ask us by emailing info@CairnRescueUSA.com We may not name the next intake with your name as it may already have a name it knows or because someone else's request may be ahead of yours, however we will do our best to name an intake as soon as possible with your selection.
